Do
you need a database?
If
you have an accumulation of data or information and are trying to
sort and/or categorize it so that it can easily be retrieved when
and as required, then a database is very useful.
What
is a database?
A database is a collection of records or information which
is stored in a computer in a structured way, so you can consult
it to answer questions, by using a computer program, such as Microsoft
Access. This data can be entered from scratch or transferred from
a spreadsheet.
The
items retrieved in answer to queries become information that can
be used to make decisions.
If
I don't have a business, what else could I use a database for?
A database can be a great asset in your home. It can be
useful for organizing large amounts of disparate information, such
as your films, CD's, recipes, telephone lists, etc.
